Vegan Siracha Garlic Tofu
In my house we use Siracha like ketchup. My husband especially loves anything spicy, the hotter the better for him. Last night the kids were with Grandma, so I made Siracha Garlic Tofu just for my hubby. Just a warning this is really spicy, but if you are a fan of heat this tofu recipe is definitely for you. I served it with a Asian cucumber salad to help put out the flames a little.
Vegan Siracha Garlic Tofu
1 16 oz block of firm or extra firm tofu drained and pressed
2 TBSP Cornstarch
2 TBSP canola oil
Siracha Sauce:
1/4 C Soy Sauce
1/3 cup water
1-2 TBSP Siracha (depending on how hot you want it)
2 cloves garlic finely minsed
1/2 tsp sesame oil
2 C cooked brown rice
Preheat the oven to 400. Cut the tofu into 1/2 inch cubes after it has been pressed for at least 30 minutes. Toss the tofu cubes in the cornstarch to coat all of the cubes. Put the tofu on a lightly oiled baking sheet and bake for 30-35 minutes until it is lightly browned and crispy. While the tofu is baking combine all of the ingredients for the siracha sauce in a small bowl and set aside.
When the tofu in finished baking heat the oil in a skillet over medium high heat. Add in the tofu and sauté it for just a minute. Add in the siracha sauce and bring it to a boil. Let it boil until the sauce has thickened. Serve over brown rice.
